Quote of the Week: Commit Yourself
As you may have heard, we've had some large waves out here in Southern California this last week. In honor of that, I bring you this week's quote. I came across it while grading student papers (thanks KCL!). It comes from surfing great "Da Bull" Greg Noll who pioneered the sport of big wave surfing. He became famous in 1969 for riding what many maintained was the largest wave ever surfed (approximately 30 feet).
I've always had one kind of approach to surfing big waves. That is, "Don't hesitate. Once you decide to go, go. Don't screw around." You get into more trouble trying to change your mind midstream -- or midwave -- then you do if you just make a commitment and go for it.

While this quote is about surfing, I think applies equally to athletes in other sports -- as well as to life in general.
