Welcome to the SportsMinded Blog. If you've been reading us for a while, you'll see that we've gone through a major remodel. You'll still get the same updates with the latest research on Sport & Exercise Psychology along with the motivational quotes you've come to love. But we've added a few things. The new design of the Blog should make it easier for you to keep up with our posts. You can now subscribe to us on Twitter. Plus you'll get some random musings from me every now and then.
For those of you viewing the SportsMinded Blog for the first time, let me give you some background. The Blog started a few years ago as a way to bring the latest research on Sports & Exercise Psychology to athletes of all abilities. As a Sport Psychologist, I was amazed by how many people post things on the web about mental prep training for athletes that have nothing to do with what researchers in the field have discovered. Which is to say that anyone can voice his or her opinion on the web about what would help an athlete, whether or not there is any proof that it works. So I decided to do something different: to bring you suggestions on how you could improve your athletic performance based on fact, not fiction.
From its inception, I've seen the SportsMinded blog as resource for athletes in a wide variety of sports. As I've come to find out from your emails and comments, it has also turned out to be a resource for students (my own and others) and reporters looking to get ideas for stories in magazines as varied as Runner's World and Women's Day. I'm happy that people find the Blog helpful.
Speaking of which, please let me know how to make the blog more useful to you. By all means, comment on any of the posts -- I really believe that it's your comments that make this Blog (well, really any blog) interesting. You can also email me by clicking the Email link in the top right corner of the blog.
Spread the word! If you like this Blog, by all means let others know it exists. Let them know they can stop by occasionally to see what's new, or they can subscribe to our RSS feed or to our Tweets.
I really appreciate all the support you've given me over the years.
